Last week, the Monarchs rebounded from its first loss under new Head Coach Mark Briggs with a dominant 3-1 road win at Seattle, as FW Chandler Hoffman notched a goal and an assist in the victory, while RSL MF Jose Hernandez provided what proved to be the game-winner.

Saturday against Swope Park, the Monarchs are expected to welcome the return of playmaking MF Sebastian Velasquez (hip) and midfield catalyst Charlie Adams (suspension), each of whom missed the Seattle trip but could be vital in helping the club extend its home record to a perfect 3-0-0 in 2017.

The potential exists Saturday for select members of RSL’s extensive early-season injury list to see action at Rio Tinto Stadium for the Monarchs, as FW Jordan Allen and MF Sunday Stephen each saw rehabilitation stints a week ago, with DF Aaron Maund next up with the USL club to marking a significant milestone in returning to health under the Mike Petke regime.

Thursday, the club signed former Creighton Blue Jay and RSL Academy product DF Riggs Lennon to round out the 2017 roster.  Lennon, 21, is the older brother of current RSL FW Brooks Lennon.

Riggs played the 2016 season with Creighton University, sharing the team-lead with 10 goals in his senior season.  Previously, he played at the University of Virginia through his junior season, where he notched seven goals and five assists in 47 matches over three seasons.  A forward throughout his college days, it is expected that he will play as a defender with the Monarchs.

Early April saw the Monarchs win twice at its Rio Tinto Stadium home, scoring a club-high five goals in a 5-3 win over expansion side Reno 1868 – including four first-half goals – on the heels of an April 1 win by a 2-0 scoreline over Phoenix Rising FC in the first game with new Head Coach Mark Briggs in charge.

Saturday’s contest kicks off a run that sees the Monarchs play three of its next four at home, with only a May 10 trip to LA Galaxy II breaking up the April 29 Swope Park visit and the club’s May 13 game against Sacramento Republic FC (7:30p MT) and the May 20 contest against Colorado Springs (7:00p MT).
