Concacaf’s biennial Gold Cup tournament kicked off earlier this week with 16 teams arriving in the United States for a chance to lift the Gold Cup trophy.
Among the 16 teams is Trinidad and Tobago who earned their spot to compete following victory in Gold Cup qualification earlier in 2021.
After not being named to the initial roster for the tournament, Real Salt Lake defender Noah Powder entered the Trinidad and Tobago fray as an injury replacement just two days prior to the team’s opening round contest against Mexico at AT&T Stadium in Dallas, Texas.
In the first two games Powder has seen minutes as a substitute in the 0-0 draw against Mexico then as a starter in the midfield during a 2-0 loss to El Salvador. He was flanked by former RSL defender Alvin Jones, who also featured in both matches for Trinidad and Tobago.
Trinidad and Tobago will take on Guatemala in their final match of the Group Stage on Sunday, July 18 at 8:00 p.m. MT in the home of FC Dallas, Toyota Stadium.Â
Meanwhile, Real Salt Lake travels to Banc of California Stadium to take on LAFC on Saturday, July 17 at 8:00 p.m. MT before returning to Rio Tinto Stadium for back-to-back home games against LA Galaxy and Colorado Rapids.
