SANDY, Utah (Tuesday, June 23, 2015) – Real Salt Lake Captain Kyle Beckerman and GK Nick Rimando have been called up as part of Jurgen Klinsmann’s 23-man U.S. National Team roster for the 2015 CONCACAF Gold Cup, the club announced on Tuesday in conjunction with U.S. Soccer.

Beckerman and Rimando will report to the U.S. Men’s National Team on Sunday, following RSL’s Saturday match against Columbus Crew SC at Rio Tinto Stadium.

The 2015 CONCACAF Gold Cup will begin for the U.S. on July 7 and runs until July 26.  The U.S. was drawn into Group A and will face Honduras in the opener at Toyota Park in Frisco, Texas, followed by matches against Haiti on July 10 at Gillette Stadium in Foxboro, Mass., then a rematch of the 2013 final against Panama on July 13 at Kansas City’s Sporting Park.

Beckerman has 45 appearances for the United States and has appeared in the Gold Cup in 2009 and 2013, winning the title in 2013 and falling in the final to Mexico in 2009.  His 11 Gold Cup appearances rank second on the U.S. roster behind only Clint Dempsey (15) and tied with Michael Bradley.  The 33-year-old holding midfielder also featured for the U.S. in three matches at the 2014 FIFA World Cup and in two recent friendly wins over the Netherlands and Germany.

Rimando has 21 appearances, including five starts this year.  The 36-year-old goalkeeper was included on the U.S. roster in the 2011 and 2013 Gold Cup tournaments, backstopping the team to a championship in 2013 and finishing second to Mexico in 2011.

As winner of the 2013 Gold Cup, the U.S. is entered in a playoff for the right to represent CONCACAF at the 2017 FIFA Confederations Cup with the winner of this year’s tournament.  If the U.S. wins this year, it will qualify for the Confederations Cup automatically.

Beckerman and Rimando are among 12 MLS players called in for Klinsmann’s squad, 17 players from the 2014 World Cup team and six who won the Gold Cup in 2013.  After the Group Stage, teams that qualify for the quarterfinal round may replace up to six players on the roster.
