After a year away, Chris Wingert has made his way back to Utah. Wingert who was previously part of the NYCFC squad, got a call from Claudio Reyna, letting him know that he could start looking for a new team for the upcoming season. With that in mind, he instantly thought of Salt Lake.
With many of the teams already solidifying their rosters, his agent still put feelers out and Real Salt Lake picked them up. It was reported by Chris Kamrani, from the Salt Lake Tribune, that the trip back was an emotional one. Wingert was excited about his new home in Salt Lake but was also coming back for a funeral for a close friend.
All in all, he is happy to be back and “healthy and fit as ever”. Wingert is ready to pick up the second part of preseason training and take the trip down to Mexico for the CONCACAF Champions League match coming in just three short weeks.
