2016 USL Regular Season
September 17, 2016 – Peoria Sports Complex, Peoria, Arizona
Three key points of the game:
· The Monarchs are familiar with Arizona, as this is the 4th time these two teams have played during the season. Arizona won the first two matches for this team, while Real Monarchs were able to secure one win out of the 4 matches back on August 27. Arizona beat the Monarchs twice when the Monarchs were On Tour playing at UVU at Clyde Field.
· The first goal for the Monarchs was scored in the 45th minute of play. The Monarchs got a free kick just passed midfield, where Jesus Leal passed it up to Pedro Baez, who was able to get open from 25 yards out. Baez rocketed the ball to the top left corner, just out of the reach of Arizona United goalkeeper. Baez has now scored two goals in his last two games.
· The second goal of the match was scored by Amet Ramirez in the 60th minute. After an aggressive start to the second half, Ramirez battled through the Arizona defense, getting a 1v1 with Arizona keeper. Ramirez was able to slide the ball past the keeper into the back of the net to give the Monarchs a 2-1 lead. It was Ramirez’s first goal with the Monarchs.
