HERRIMAN, Utah (Friday, July 22, 2022) – Real Salt Lake Homegrown goalkeeper Gavin Beavers has been selected by head coach, Marko Mitrovic, to join the United States U-19 Youth National Team for a training camp from July 25 through August 2 in Carson, California
Beavers, 17, signed with Real Salt Lake as a Homegrown Player prior to the start of the 2022 season. He has spent much of this year as the starting goalkeeper for Real Monarchs at the MLS NEXT Pro level. Beavers made his professional debut on June 26, 2021 with the Real Monarchs, and at the time made history as the youngest goalkeeper in USL Championship history.
The Homegrown goalkeeper recently started in between the pipes for the Monarchs in the inaugural MLS NEXT Pro Invitational match, facing English Premier League 2 side, Chelsea FC. Beavers proved to be the hero, making the deciding save and burying a penalty kick in the shootout to give Real Monarchs the win over the English team.
This is the third consecutive call up for Beavers, having previously been named to the U.S. U-19 roster for a week- long training camp in Carson, California, as well as for several friendlies earlier this year against England and Norway.
