Game at a Glance: COL 1-2 RSL

Luke Mulholland vs Colorado 1004

Real Salt Lake 2 at Colorado Rapids 1
October 4, 2015; Dick’s Sporting Goods Park
Real Salt Lake (11-12-8, 41 points); Colorado Rapids (8-13-10, 34 points)

Man of the Match: Luke Mulholland scored a tremendous goal in the 43rd minute to give RSL the lead, curling an attempted clearance off a Salt Lake corner kick inside the far post for his third goal of the season.

Telling Stat: The Rapids managed just one shot on goal for the match.  Although the home team had 10 shots in the match to nine for RSL, Salt Lake blocked six of them, making it a tough night for Colorado’s attack.

What You Missed: Kyle Beckerman became the second player in RSL history to surpass the 20,000 minute plateau in the Claret-and-Cobalt, joining Nick Rimando.  He is now at 20,007 MLS regular season minutes played for RSL and his next match will tie Steve Ralston atop the all-time MLS leaderboard at 378 career matches.

So What: It was the first victory RSL has scored this season after allowing the first goal and Salt Lake is now within three points of the sixth and final playoff spot in the Western Conference with three matches left to play.  Now toting a 3-1-0 record in the last four league matches and 4-1-1 across all competitions, momentum is turning in RSL’s favor as the team is playing its best soccer in the final two months of the season.
