Man Of The Match: While Maikel Chang and Andrew Brody could have earned this honor, last-minute saves from Zac MacMath prevented a Real Salt Lake defeat. MacMath had three point-blank stops in the dying minutes of the game, keeping Austin to just one goal and sealing the victory for RSL.
Telling Stat: Maikel Chang’s goal in the 55th minute gave Real Salt Lake a much-needed energy boost. Chang had two shots on goal and eight touches in the box, more than anyone on the field for RSL. Andrew Brody sealed the game with his goal in the 88th minute, the first goal of his MLS career.
What You Missed: Anderson Julio made his long-awaited return to Rio Tinto Stadium in the 64th minute, getting one assist. Julio's return was in front of a sold out RioT, the fifth consecutive sellout for RSL this season. This current sellout streak is the second longest in RSL history, and the longest to start the season.
What’s Next?: The Club is heading to Stade Saputo to take on CF Montréal on Sunday, May 22, 2022. It’s an early kickoff, starting at 2:00 p.m. MT. RSL returns to the RioT Saturday, May 28, 2022, to battle the Houston Dynamo, starting at 7:30 p.m., MT.
