Man Of The Match: GK Zac MacMath had four amazing stops in the 57th, 65th, 77th and 97th minutes, blocking what would have been certain goals. A last-minute goal by Dejan Joveljic was called off after video review showed a foul on the play by a Galaxy player, maintaining the shutout for MacMath and a big win for the Club.
Telling Stat: Marcelo Silva opened his account for the season with a goal in the 49th minute, breaking a Club scoreless streak that began on April 9th, and lasted 274 minutes. Coincidentally, it was also the last date that anyone had scored against the Galaxy this season.
What You Missed: The RioT was filled to capacity, with 20,775 fans in attendance. Today’s match was the fourth consecutive sellout of this short season, the first time in Club history that the first four games of a season have been sellouts.
This match was a classic example of “quality over quantity,” with LA maintaining possession roughly two-thirds of the game and taking twice as many shots as the Claret-and-Cobalt.
What's Next: RSL is heading to the Volunteer State to take on Nashville SC Sunday, May 8, 2022. The game is scheduled to start at 3:00 p.m. MT. After that, the Club returns to the RioT to battle Austin FC on Pride Night, Saturday, May 14, 2022, at 7:30 p.m. MT.
