Real Salt Lake 3 vs. FC Dallas 2
September 4, 2021; Rio Tinto Stadium, Sandy, Utah
Real Salt Lake (8-8-6, 30 points); FC Dallas (6-10-7, 25 points)
Man of the Match: Homegrown Player Justen Glad recorded his second goal of the season, matching a season high set by the defender in 2016, which kick-started the team’s offense. On the defensive end, he led the team in blocks with two, while also adding two interceptions and two clearances to help ensure the victory at home.
Telling Stat: The match marked the team’s fourth-consecutive win at home, not including the match against Vancouver Whitecaps FC which was officially recorded as an away game. The win moved RSL to a 6-2-4 record, giving the team 22 points when playing at Rio Tinto Stadium, tied with LA Galaxy for the best home record in the Western Conference.
What You Missed: Defender Aaron Herrera took one step closer to making history, as he recorded his eighth assist of the season and is now just four away from eclipsing the record for most assists by a defender in a single season. Midfielder Jonathan Menéndez scored his first goal of the season to add to his three assists in his first season with the Club.
What’s Next: RSL heads to California for back-to-back road matches, first against Los Angeles FC and then a mid-week matchup with San Jose Earthquakes. The team will return to Rio Tinto Stadium on September 18 when they host Seattle Sounders at 7:30 p.m. MT.
