Current and Former RSL Stars Who Have Featured for the USMNT

Click to follow link.">Nations League triumph over Mexico, we wanted to take a look at the current and former Real Salt Lake stars who have played or coached at least one match for RSL or the RSL Academy, and have featured for the USMNT. On the current RSL roster, 20-year-old goalkeeper David Ochoa is currently in camp with the USMNT and is still seeking his first cap for the USMNT.


Nick Rimando, Kyle Beckerman, Brian Dunseth, Tony Beltran, Pablo Mastroeni

Each of the former players and coach above currently have roles within the RSL organization and are still living in the Salt Lake City area.


Rimando, the legendary RSL goalkeeper featured for the USMNT on 22 occasions and was a part of the 2014 FIFA World Cup squad that advanced to the Round of 16 in Brazil. The MLS all-time leader in games played, starts, saves, shutouts and minutes played, Rimando will always be regarded as an all-time great in the sport.


RSL’s captain since 2008, Beckerman played 350 matches for RSL from 2007-2020 and earned 58 caps for the USMNT. Beckerman joined Rimando on the 2014 FIFA World Cup roster where he started three of the team’s four matches during the tournament.


Currently the club’s broadcast analyst, Dunseth wore the captain’s armband for the USMNT in the 2000 Summer Olympics and earned one cap for the men’s senior national team.


Now the RSL Assistant General Manager, Beltran played 245 matches for RSL and featured for the USMNT three times, including a match at Rio Tinto Stadium in a Gold Cup contest against Cuba in 2013. He was joined in the starting lineup by RSL teammates Beckerman and Rimando for the 4-1 win over Cuba.


Joining the club as an assistant coach prior to the 2021 season, Mastroeni was a mainstay for the USMNT from 2001-2009 where he played in the 2002 and 2006 FIFA World Cups as a central defender.
