SANDY, Utah - Three Real Salt Lake players saw action in the CONCACAF Gold Cup on Tuesday night, as Kyle Beckerman and Nick Rimando started for the U.S. in its 6-1 win over Belize and Alvaro Saborio started and captained Costa Rica to a 3-0 win over Cuba.
Saborio started and played 79 minutes for Los Ticos in their 3-0 win over Cuba. He troubled the Cuban backline throughout, but was unable to find the net as Costa Rica cruised to a win. Beckerman and Rimando both started for the U.S. in its 6-1 win over Belize, with Beckerman curling an absolutely gorgeous cross for the Americans' second goal (see video above) and Rimando showing well in net. RSL defender Tony Beltran did not feature for Jurgen Klinsmann's side against Belize.
Beckerman, Beltran, Rimando and Saborio will all be in action for their national teams at Rio Tinto Stadium on Saturday in a Gold Cup doubleheader. The U.S. will kickoff the twin-bill, taking on Cuba at the Sandy facility at 1:30 p.m. Saborio and Costa Rica will play immediately after the U.S. match, taking on Belize at 4:00 p.m. Click here to get your tickets for the Group C doubleheader.
