Real Salt Lake midfielder **Andrés Gómez** has been named to MLSsoccer.com's MLS Team of the Matchday for Matchday Nine following the team’s 3-1 home victory Saturday night over the San Jose Earthquakes. This is the Colombians’ first time being named to the MLS Team of the Matchday.
Gómez scored his first-ever goal for Real Salt Lake against San Jose and also recorded his third assist of his inaugural Claret-and-Cobalt campaign. RSL’s newest U22 Initiative signing joined the Club this offseason from Colombian side Millonarios F.C. and has started to find his feet in his new home. During RSL’s last home match against Charlotte FC, he notched his first two assists in MLS, helping RSL to a 3-1 victory. This past week, he assisted **Jefferson Savarino** to help put RSL ahead 2-1 before scoring his first goal for the Club, sealing the victory in the 80’. His efforts against San Jose also earned him the opportunity to be named MLS Player of the Matchday. Fans can vote for Andrés here.
