On Saturday, September 18, Real Salt Lake will celebrate Club legend Nick Rimando ahead of his induction into the Utah Sports Hall of Fame on September 20 as RSL’s first-ever inductee into the UHOF.
To celebrate, RSL is offering an $18 ticket special – in honor of Rimando’s former jersey number – ticket special for its match against Seattle Sounders FC on September 18 that can be purchased here.
In addition to the special ticket offer, Rimando will be available for pictures and autographs with fans during the pregame celebration at the LifeVantage tent in the stadium’s Plaza on the East side.
The Club will conduct a halftime honoring with an on-field recognition for Rimando during its match against Seattle.
As the first RSL player inducted into the Utah Sports Hall of Fame, Rimando will join professional golfer Jay Don Blake, water polo Olympian Courtney Young Johnson, professional football player Haloti Ngata and collegiate track All-American athlete Teri Okelberry Spiers in the Class of 2021.
Originally joining RSL in 2007, Rimando immediately became a staple for the Club and community and played an integral role in bringing Utah its first – and to date – only major sports championship when RSL claimed the MLS Cup title in 2009.
Retiring following the 2019 season after 13 seasons with RSL, Rimando stepped off the field as Major League Soccer’s all-time time leader in games played (514), games started (514), minutes (46,336), saves, (1,705) goalkeeping wins (223) and shutouts (154). During his illustrious 20-year career in MLS, Rimando featured in the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil where he represented the United States.
