Player to Watch – Midfielder Isidro Martínez has been a boon for the RGVFC midfield since signing for the team in March 2019. Martínez leads his side in assists with six and has notched a goal. The Texas-native has an ability to disrupt the opposing side with a good reading of the play. Martínez has made 37 interceptions and holds a 71.7% tackling success rate. Watch for the 22-year-old to use his midfield presence as his side looks for a pivotal win over Real Monarchs SLC.

History – Real Monarchs lead Rio Grande Valley in the all-time series between the two with a record of 4-2-1. The last time the two met was at Zions Bank Stadium in early June, in a contest that saw the Monarchs extend its series lead behind a 5-3 victory. Now Real Monarchs heads to H-E-B Park where it holds an even record of 1-1-1 after falling 2-1 to Rio Grande Valley in September 2018.

Last Five – The Toros have been sliding in the recent weeks, holding a record of 1-4-0 in its last five games. Since narrowly defeated El Paso Locomotive FC at home in late August, RGVFC has gone on to lose four games straight while conceding 11 goals and recording just one. Now Rio Grande Valley is set to host Real Monarchs SLC as it searches to keep its playoff hopes alive.
