THE UGANDAN CRANE
Defender Aziz Kayondo was recently called up by the Ugandan Men’s National Team for their Africa Cup of Nations qualification matches against Algeria and Niger. Kayondo started and played all 90 minutes in the Cranes’ 1-1 draw with Niger on June 6, while also being on the bench for Uganda’s 2-0 loss to Algeria. Kayondo will now return from international duty to the Monarchs for the Club’s upcoming match against Colorado Rapids 2.
THE STARS AND STRIPES
RSL Homegrown Gavin Beavers missed the Monarchs previous match against Whitecaps FC while on international duty with U-19 United States Men’s National Team for its friendlies with England on June 6 and Norway on June 9. Beavers was not featured in the United States’ win over England, however he started and played all 90 minutes and earned a clean sheet in the team’s 3-0 win over Norway.
