HERRIMAN, Utah (Thursday, May 25, 2023) – Real Monarchs (3-6-0, 9 points, 10th in West) travel to Lawrence, Kansas to face Sporting Kansas City II (4-3-2, 15 points, 6th in West) for a second time this season on Friday, May 26 at 6:00 p.m. MT.
Real Monarchs will look to beat rivals SKC II in their second meeting after the opposing side was able to steal points aways from the Monarchs at Zions Bank Stadium. The Monarchs have been on a three game losing streak and will look to end their run of poor performances this Friday.
For the past two matches Real Monarchs have been shutout and will miss forward Tyrone Mondi against Kansas City who has had the upper hand against their rivals and is the leading goal scorer for the Monarchs when facing SKC II in MLS Next Pro competition. The Monarchs will have to lean on other goalscorers of the 2023 campaign, Duncan Jarvie and Terron Williams if they want to leave Lawrence with a win this weekend.

Head-to-Head: In the 2022 campaign SKC II and Real Monarchs split the pair of games that they played with each team taking the three points at their respective home stadiums. On April 4, 2023 Kansas City and the Monarchs met for the first time during the 2023 campaign and SKC II walked away from Zions Bank Stadium unscathed picking up three points in a dominating 4-0 win. The Monarchs will look to split the series again this season and pick up three points on the road to draw even with SKC II.
