SANDY, Utah
(Saturday, July 18, 2020) –
 Real Monarchs
drew 3-3 with regional rival Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC on Saturday afternoon, putting its first win of the 2020 season on hold.

all notched goals for the Monarchs in the draw.

Postgame quotes from SLCvCOS.

The Monarchs started the match on the front foot, stretching the Switchbacks FC defense and earning five corners before breaking through for its first goal of the season in the 30
th
minute. Following a long throw-in from defender
James Moberg
, the ball bounced around the box before landing at the foot of Brody. Brody then tapped the ball to Coffee who found himself in space and fired the ball into the left side of the net.

With momentum on the Monarchs side, Powder stole possession with a tackle and quickly found Brody streaking down the right side of the pitch. Brody cut back to his left foot and buried the ball into the back of the net to double the 2-0 lead in the 40
th
minute. The flurry of action continued in added time as Powder’s effort to extend the lead was saved by Switchbacks FC goalkeeper Sean Melvin. Moments after the Monarchs almost scored their third and just seconds before the end of the half, Switchbacks FC midfielder Uvaldo Luna had his shot saved and awkwardly deflected up into the air by goalkeeper
Jimmy Slayton.
On its way back down defender Joan Cervos tapped the ball in from close range to cut the Monarchs lead in half, sending the sides into the break with a 2-1 scoreline.

In the 61
st
minute, the momentum would fall the Monarchs way and again Powder was involved when he fired a dangerous free kick into the box that found the head of Peay who flicked the ball back across goal and inside the far post for the 3-1 lead. Momentum through the remainder of the half went the way of the visitors and in the 89
th
minute, Austin Dewing stole possession deep in the home side’s half to force Slayton out of his goal before passing to Jordan Burt for the tap-in goal.

Ultimately completing the comeback, Colorado Springs earned one final corner kick in the 5
th
minute of added time and Abdul Rwatubyaye’s header found the back of the net as the match ended 3-3.
