HERRIMAN, Utah (Monday, January 1, 2024) – Real Monarchs have signed right winger Omar Marquez to a MLS Next Pro professional contract. Appearing for the U17 squad this season, Marquez will eye a call up to the Monarchs in 2024. Marquez joins players like Zavier Gozo and Luca Moisa who are moving through the pathway Real Salt Lake Academy has established to develop professional players.
Marquez, 15, joined the Real Salt Lake Academy in July 2022 from Sacramento Republic FC in a free transfer. In his first season with the club, Marquez played for the U15s. The right footed winger scored three goals in nine caps for the club last season and one goal in two caps for the United States Youth National Team. Marquez has earned a starting role on RSL Academy’s U17 squad for the 2023-24 season.

Born in Sacramento, California, Marquez has been a part of the United States Youth National Team, most recently appearing in the U15 Concacaf Championship accompanied by RSL academy players Will Mackay and Gio Villa, and Real Monarchs midfielder Luca Moisa. The squad defeated Mexico 4-2 to claim the League A title.
