Man of the Match: All over the midfield for the Monarchs, Bret Halsey made his mark to earn tonight’s Man of the Match honors. Controlling the middle of the field, Halsey recorded an 83.3% passing accuracy, including an 82.6% passing clip in the opponents’ half of the pitch, while creating two chances in the attack. Additionally on the defensive end, the midfielder recorded two tackles and an interception while winning 10 duels and six fouls for the visitors.
Telling Stat: With 2,477 minutes played across 29 appearances this season, Kyle Adams finishes the year as the leader for the Monarchs in total time on the pitch. The Auckland, New Zealand native also ends the season as the leader for the Club in clearances with 140, blocks and interceptions with 42 each, aerial duels won with 58, passes per 90 minutes with 50.5 and total passes with 1,389 on 83.4% passing accuracy.
What You Missed: Brothers Charlie and Chris Wehan faced off in just the second all-time meeting between the siblings. The first time the two met on the pitch was earlier this season in a 2-1 victory for New Mexico United on September 18 in which both brothers scored for their respective sides.
So What: With the 2021 season in the books for the Real Monarchs, the result brings the Monarchs final point total to 22 with a 5-20-7 overall record. Missing the USL Championship postseason for just the fourth time in Club history, the Real Monarchs now look ahead to the 2022 campaign next spring.
