SANDY, Utah (Friday, Sept. 16, 2016) – Real Salt Lake returns home to Rio Tinto Stadium on Saturday, hosting the Houston Dynamo at 7:30 p.m. MT in the first game of a season-ending stretch that sees three of the next four matches in Sandy, prior to the Oct. 23 MLS reg. season finale on MLS “Decision Day” at Seattle.
Saturday’s visit is Houston’s second of the season, as RSL rebounded from an 0-1 deficit to the visiting Dynamo back on April 30. RSL captured a 2-1 win at Rio Tinto Stadium over Houston as a Jordan Allen equalizer found the back of the net just eight minutes after the Dynamo’s go-ahead goal, while FW Yura Movsisyan struck for the eventual game-winner just another eight minutes later. That victory extended RSL’s active home unbeaten streak over the Dynamo to six.
Two weeks later, severe flooding in the Houston area pushed an originally-scheduled Saturday night kick to midday Sunday, May 15, RSL dropping an 0-1 decision to the Dynamo. That loss snapped RSL’s overall win streak over Houston at five, as FW Giles Barnes – since traded to Vancouver – scored just seconds after Movsisyan narrowly missed giving RSL the lead in the 65th minute.
This weekend’s match will be televised in Utah via KMYU (English, David James & Brian Dunseth) or heard via RSL outlets 100.7 FM (English, Jay Nolly, Spencer Warne & Jeremy Horton) & 102.3 FM / 1600 AM (Spanish, Fernando Hortal & Nelson Moran). Pre-game coverage airs live locally on 100.7 FM at 6:30 p.m. MT, while KMYU’s three-hour window kicks off at 7:00 p.m. MT live from Sandy.
